Revival begins with a posture of dependence on God and urgency for His Kingdom. Knowing we are in a spiritual battle and that the world desperately needs Christ, we pursue His mission with urgency as if the revival of the nation depends on us. At the same time, we recognize that only God can change hearts, bring spiritual life, and accomplish true revival, so we live in continual prayer and reliance on Him.
Throughout Scripture and history, leaders of past Great Awakenings have worked as if the revival of a nation depended on their obedience, while praying in full dependence on God to do what only He can do.
All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.”
As the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him.

Revival requires ongoing repentance that restores our relationship with God. Repentance is not meant to trap us in shame. It’s about heart love for God and choosing to love Him first, again and again, throughout your day. For revival to be sustained, we must make ongoing repentance – turning from any love other than Christ – a lifestyle. This keeps our hearts tender and clears away the barriers that block God’s power in our lives so that He can empower us to bring revival to our families, our communities, our churches, and even our nation.
Throughout Scripture and history, revival has always followed repentance as God works through humble hearts that continually return to Him and walk closely with Him.
For the sorrow that is according to the will of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation, but the sorrow of the world produces death.

Revival is fueled by Kingdom prayer. While God cares about our earthly needs, revival prayer is focused on eternal matters: salvation, spiritual transformation, and God’s victory over sin and darkness. When we pray “Your Kingdom come,” we submit our lives to God’s authority and join the unseen spiritual battle for souls and for the advance of Christ’s Kingdom.
Throughout Scripture and history, every revival has been sustained by believers who united in this kind of prayer, interceding for people and places until God’s Kingdom breaks through in power.
So He said to them, “When you pray, say:
Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.

Revival grows through brokenhearted boldness – a compassion for the lost that leads to courageous evangelism. As we pray and repent, God reshapes our hearts to reflect His own, opening our eyes to the people around us who are separated from Him. Their spiritual condition begins to move us deeply, and that compassion compels us to act, sharing Christ, starting spiritual conversations, and inviting others to encounter Him.
Throughout Scripture and history, revival has spread as believers, moved with compassion, boldly carried the message of salvation to those who did not yet know Christ.
When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

Revival endures when we raise the next generation to know Christ and lead for His Kingdom. God often ignites revival through young people, but these leaders are formed through faithful discipleship in Christ-centered homes and churches. When parents, pastors, mentors, and churches intentionally invest in the spiritual formation of children and students, we plant the seeds of revival that can shape culture for decades.
Throughout Scripture and history, God has repeatedly used young people, trained and encouraged by faithful believers, to spark and sustain revival that drew entire nations back to Him.
These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.

Revival requires perseverance and long-term faithfulness—thinking in decades, not days. True spiritual awakening is not the result of a brief moment of enthusiasm, but of believers who faithfully seek God and live for His Kingdom over a lifetime. Our commitment to place Christ above all is proven through years of steady obedience, trusting that God works through sustained faithfulness to bring lasting transformation.
Throughout Scripture and history, the revivals that reshaped nations were built on decades of devotion by believers who continually sought God and remained faithful to His purposes.
And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.
